Overview Coming Soon
Realtime Payments are coming soon. This preview gives you an early look at the expected experience so you can begin planning your integration.
As we prepare for launch, API fields, scopes, statuses, webhook events, and other details may evolve. Review the final documentation before moving your integration to production.
Unit allows you to send Real-Time Payments (RTP) through The Clearing House RTP network. RTP is a credit-push payment rail that transfers funds in real time, 24/7/365.
- RTP payments are processed automatically.
- Unlike ACH, RTP does not support debit payments. RTP payments are credit-only.
Example: Sending a Realtime Payment of $5,000 immediately reduces the available balance by that amount, creating a Realtime Payment Transaction.
The direction of a Realtime Payment is always Credit, moving funds from the Unit account to the counterparty account. The receiving bank must be able to receive payments through the RTP network. Once a Realtime Payment is sent, it is final.
You can listen for the payment.created webhook and inspect the payload for a Realtime Payment.
